The Dubai Fitness Challenge asks one simple thing of you: 30 minutes of activity a day for 30 days. The 2026 edition runs from 31 October to 29 November, and for many riders, runners and walkers in Dubai the flat, open Al Qudra area is where those 30 minutes happen, usually just after dawn. This guide explains what the challenge is, how people use Al Qudra for it, what Zad can put in your bag at the Last Exit, and a four-week plan you can copy.
Valid for 2026 — updated 1 Nov 2026. Dates and events come from the sources linked below. Rules, closures and event details can change, so check the organiser and posted signs before you go.
The one-line answer: pick a 30-minute activity, do it every day until 29 November, and make the Al Qudra track your weekend long one. Coffee, bottle refills and gels are at Zad, open 24/7.
1. What the Dubai Fitness Challenge is
The Dubai Fitness Challenge (DFC) is an annual month-long campaign run by the Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism and the Dubai Sports Council. According to the Dubai Media Office, the tenth edition runs from 31 October to 29 November 2026, and the idea is to commit to 30 minutes of physical activity a day for 30 consecutive days, at any age, ability or fitness level. The "30x30" shorthand comes from that.
Flagship events sit alongside the daily habit. The National reports Dubai Ride on 1 November and Dubai Run on 22 November, both on Sheikh Zayed Road (The National). Those are mass-participation events with their own registration, so check the official challenge website for details. We could not verify the registration cost or any extra venues, so we do not quote them.
Is there an official Al Qudra event? As far as we know at 1 November 2026, no Al Qudra activation has been announced by the organisers. This page is therefore about using Al Qudra for your own 30x30, not about an official DFC venue. If that changes, our Al Qudra events calendar is where we will list it.
2. How riders and runners use Al Qudra for their 30x30
Daily 30 minutes is easy on weekdays near home. The weekend is where Al Qudra comes in, because it is flat, open and quiet at first light. Cooler weather helps too: the city average high is about 31°C in November, and sunrise on the 15th is about 06:35 in the city, according to the table in our best time to visit guide.
- Cyclists: the cycle track is described on our cyclist stop page as a vehicle-free, flat loop in the Al Marmoom reserve. The Stick is a 16 km out-and-back along the road, and the Loop is 50 km. One lap of The Stick is a neat 30x30 session and a good warm-up. See the cycling guide and bike checklist.
- Runners and walkers: we could not find an official statement on runners using the cycle track, so treat the track as the cyclists' space unless an official source or sign tells you otherwise. Our running guide covers the rules and the heat. The lakes area is better for a walk, as in the family guide.
- Everyone: nothing is sold on the loops or at the lakes, so buy and fill up before you turn in. Carry water, tell someone your plan and keep your tank full, because we do not sell fuel.
- Dark mornings: if you start before sunrise, read our night cycling guide for lights and safety.
3. The Rider Breakfast, for clubs of six or more
If your club or group is doing a DFC ride together, the Rider Breakfast is AED 38 per rider, for clubs of 6 or more. Each rider gets a cappuccino, a chocolate or cheese croissant and a Pocari Sweat 330 ml. Order the evening before and it is ready when you roll in. Message the store on WhatsApp to book, as on the outings page.
Organising something bigger, such as a team challenge or a company ride? Message our group line on WhatsApp +971 55 566 6037 with the date, headcount and idea, and we will come back with a plan and a price.
4. Early coffee, bottle refills and gels
The shop is open 24/7, so there is no wrong hour to start. These are the items listed on our cyclist page and menu:
- Coffee: a cappuccino is AED 17 (24 large), a double espresso AED 15 and a karak chai AED 7.
- Bottle refill or cold water: from AED 2.
- Gels: Maurten Gel 100 is AED 15.75 and Gel 160 is AED 19.95. GU Roctane gels and stroopwafels run AED 10.50 to 25.
- Hydration: Pocari Sweat 330 ml is AED 8.
- After the ride: a croissant is AED 14 to 15, a smoothie AED 26 and a fresh orange juice AED 22.
Prices are indicative, so message us to confirm stock before you drive out. Group pre-orders for coffee and breakfast go to the store on WhatsApp +971 50 502 5856.
5. A four-week 30x30 plan you can copy
This is a simple idea, not medical advice. If you are unsure about starting exercise, check with your doctor first, and slow down in the heat.
| Week | Weekdays (30 min) | Weekend at Al Qudra |
|---|---|---|
| 1 (31 Oct to 6 Nov) | Easy walk, spin or jog near home | One lap of The Stick at an easy pace |
| 2 (7 to 13 Nov) | Add a little pace on two days | Longer ride or walk, with a Zad coffee before and after |
| 3 (14 to 20 Nov) | Mix strength or stretching with cardio | Club or friends session, pre-order the Rider Breakfast |
| 4 (21 to 29 Nov) | Keep it easy, finish the streak | Your longest outing, then a celebration smoothie |
Track the days on a calendar and aim for 30 ticks. Missing a day is not the end of it, since the point is the habit.
